First, remove the SD Card and SIM card from your tablet. Press the Power button + Volume Up button at the same time for about 10 seconds. Release the power button when the Samsung logo appears on the screen of your tablet, however, continue to hold the Volume Up button until the recovery screen appears. Now, use the volume buttons to navigate through the menu and select one from the four options as indicated on the picture above, press Home to choose the selection. This trick works for any Samsung tablet not turning on.

Connect the Samsung Galaxy tablet to the charge and leave it for about 5 minutes. Push the volume+ and the power buttons. The screen should turn on, and it should start charging with the Samsung “charging screen” appearing on the display.

Troubleshoot A Samsung Galaxy Tab That Doesn’t Turn On
This part of the article further helps troubleshoot your Samsung Galaxy Tab not turning on issue. The issue may be that it:
- Doesn’t turn on
- Starts to turn on but restarts or shuts down before it turns on completely
If you still need help, try each of these tips if your device doesn’t turn on after the above:
Verify that your Samsung Galaxy Tablet has sufficient charge.
- Connect your original charger to your device.
- After a few minutes, try to turn on your device.
Verify that your device and charging port are not damaged.
- Carefully inspect your device to be sure it’s not overheating, swollen or damaged.
- Carefully inspect your device’s charging port and remove any debris.
Verify that you are using a compatible charger.
You risk severe damage to your device if the charger isn’t the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. However, if your Tablet was bought after 2007, you need not worry about this problem as it is ok to use any charger with such devices.
Attempt a Forced Restart of the Device.
Note: If performed correctly, a forced restart will not erase any information from the device.
- Press and hold the Home, Volume, and Power keys for 10 seconds.
- If the device starts to power on, release the keys.
- If your Samsung Galaxy Tablet does turn on, verify that it is running the most recent software. Check for software updates.
Attempt A Hardware Factory Reset

I had problem with my Samsung tablet not turning on. The reason was that I was not using the lead correct for the charger. I was using a micro USB lead which looked similar but was from some other device. The tablet showed the battery icon as battery full, but pressing the ON button gaveno result. Connecting the correct charge lead solved the problem immediately.
