Things that affect the Note 4’s battery life include; The number of apps installed on your device, poor battery settings optimization, and Google Play Services. All of these factors affect your Note 4 battery performance. Read about Google Play Services battery drain on the Note 4. Let’s begin with the battery drain and then we’ll discuss the overheating issues.
Best Battery Saver APP for Note 4 – Greenify
To help save battery life on the Galaxy Note 4, install an app. The best battery saver app for the Note 4 is Greenify. Greenify allows you to place all your apps in a state of hibernation, and they only activate when you choose to launch the app. Greenify checks for the amount of time that an app remains inactive and places it into hibernation. With no apps running in the background, you see an increase in battery health on your Galaxy Note 4 device.
Greenify is one of the ways that you can resolve battery draining and overheating issues on your Note 4. We dedicated an article on its usage and set up. You can read how to use the Greenify app to extend battery life on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Also, check out how to resolve problems with a Note 4 that won’t charge or turn on. Or, you can continue with the remaining tips in this tutorial.
3C Toolbox App
Another option is to use the 3C Toolbox App. This app, unlike Greenify, disables the background processes and applications. It also offers a more in-depth analysis of your system. Moreover, 3C Toolbox offers performance and optimization features outside of what Greenify provides. Most people use the 3C Toolbox App to turn off Google Play Services. However, the 3c Toolbox APK requires root for most of the functionalities it provides. You can read the how to use 3C Toolbox Guide for further information. Now, let’s discuss modifying certain settings to increase the Note 4’s battery performance.
CHANGE GALAXY NOTE 4 BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS TO EXTEND BATTERY LIFE
Changing the brightness settings is a common fix. Turn off the automatic brightness feature. Set the brightness to a lower setting manually. Turning your Galaxy Note 4 display brightness down is an easy way to improve the Note 4 battery life. After you adjust the brightness settings on the Galaxy Note 4, limit location services. One of the most power consuming features of the Galaxy Note 4 is the GPS location services.
Moreover, Location Services incorporates more than just Google Maps. Social networking apps use the GPS functionality of your Galaxy Note 4 which in turn drains your battery even more. Furthermore, while location services are useful, limiting those settings boosts battery life and this is what we strive to achieve. To define the location services usage on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4, do the following:
MODIFY GPS SETTINGS TO IMPROVE YOUR GALAXY NOTE 4 BATTERY LIFE
Go into Settings > Location > Mode. There are three options. High Accuracy uses GPS, Wi-Fi, & the mobile network to determine location. Of course, High Accuracy mode, in turn, uses a lot of battery life to do so. Battery Saving, which, as the name suggests, reduces battery drain; and Device Only, which only uses the onboard GPS. You can also turn off location services altogether, but of course, that then limits your Note 4’s capabilities. You can adjust the settings to your liking. I use the battery saving option, unless I am out for a jog or walk, in which case I momentarily use the High Accuracy setting.
MODIFY THE SYNC SETTINGS ON YOUR GALAXY NOTE 4 TO STOP THE BATTERY FROM DRAINING FAST
Another setting that you can tweak is the Galaxy Note 4 Sync settings. Sync delivers push notifications such as emails to your Galaxy Note 4. When you disable syncing, you also prevent a ton of app update notifications, which gives you time to connect your device to a charge port to install the updates. Of course, you can choose to disable certain sync features while leaving the important ones (email delivery) enabled.
Again, this is entirely up to you. Another step that you can take is to explore the battery settings on your Galaxy Note 4. This way you can get a feel of what is using up your Note 4 battery life and take steps to reduce the load on the battery. Android devices have lots of settings that can reduce battery drain. Here are some of the things you need to do to evaluate your Note 4’s battery life.
CHECK TO SEE WHICH APPS ARE DEPLETING YOUR GALAXY NOTE 4 BATTERY
Go into Settings > Device > Battery and you see what’s making your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 battery drain very fast – and if you tap on each of the apps, you can then adjust the settings to improve battery performance. Click on the dotted icon at the top right of the screen and you see the option for Battery Saver. If you enable this, you can specify when it should activate (never, 5% battery or 15% battery) and, when it does, it limits the over-usage of your battery.
This battery saving setting reduces app activity, disables syncing for some apps, reduces vibration, dims the screen and more. You can customize these features to your liking for optimal battery performance on your Galaxy Note 4. However, none of them are mandatory, and you know what works best for you. To be honest, the Greenify app already saves a ton load of battery life on my device, and the extra settings that I adjust are for when I need to squeeze the extra life out of my battery. On the next pages, you learn how to calibrate Samsung Galaxy Note 4 battery.
Calibrate Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Battery
The Android operating system has a feature called Battery Stats. Battery Stats keeps track of battery capacity when it is full or empty. The problem is, however, that it is prone to corruption and displays data that isn’t real. Thus corruption causes the Note 4 to turn off before reaching 0 percent. Calibrating your Note 4’s battery means getting the Android OS to correct this information. By knowing how to calibrate the Galaxy Note 4 battery, you restore the actual battery levels/stats. It’s important to understand that you, technically, can’t calibrate the battery: it is, after all, just a cell that stores and discharges. However, lithium-ion batteries do include a printed circuit board (PCB) that serves as a protection switch to stop them from exploding or deep discharging.
How to calibrate Galaxy Note 4 battery without root access?
- Discharge your Galaxy Note 4 fully until it turns itself off.
- Turn it on again and let it turn off.
- Plug your phone into a charger and, without turning it on, let it charge until the on-screen or LED indicator says 100 percent.
- Unplug your charger.
- Turn your phone on. The battery indicator will likely not say 100 percent, so plug it in (leave your phone on for this) and continue charging until it says 100 percent on-screen as well.
- Unplug your phone and restart it. If it does not say 100 percent, plug the charger back in until it says 100 percent on screen.
- Repeat this cycle until it says 100 percent (or as close as you think it is going to get).
- Now, let your battery discharge all the way down to 0 percent and let your phone turn off again.
- Fully charge the battery one more time without interruption and you should have reset the Android system’s battery percentage.
Note: Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Battery Drain
Please remember that performing this process all the time may harm your battery. Even when your battery is so dead, your Note 4 does not even turn on; your battery still has enough reserve charge to avoid system damage. Perform this process once every three months at the most. If the Note 4 requires calibration more often than that you have bigger problems at hand. Put plainly: fully discharging a battery is not good for it.
Trying to overload a battery is also bad for it. The good news is that charging batteries automatically shut off when reaching their safe limit, and there’s always a little in reserve even if your Galaxy Note 4 does not start. However, again, do this only when necessary, because it does have an adverse impact on battery life. If you root the Galaxy Note 4, you can try the steps below (if not, move to the next tip):
How to calibrate GALAXY NOTE 4 battery with root access?
Even though it is not clear if purging the batterystats.bin file has any meaningful effect on how the Android system reports remaining battery charge, there are those who swear by this method. So, in the interest of fairness, the process is below for your general knowledge (it is true that different manufacturers use the batterystats.bin file for various things). It is the same process as above but with the added step of a root-enabled app.
- Discharge your GALAXY NOTE 4 completely until it turns itself off.
- Turn it on and let it discharge and turn off again.
- Plug your phone into a charger and, without turning it on, let it charge until the on-screen or LED indicator says 100 percent.
- Unplug your charger.
- Turn your phone on. The battery indicator will likely not say 100 percent, so plug it in (leave your phone on) and continue charging until it says 100 percent on the screen as well.
- Unplug your phone and restart it. If it doesn’t say 100 percent, plug the charger back in until it says 100 percent on screen.
- You want to repeat this cycle until it says 100 percent (or as close as you think it’s going to get).
- Now, install the Battery Calibration app and, before launching it, make sure your battery is at 100 percent again, then restart.
- Immediately launch the app and recalibrate your battery.
- Once you’ve calibrated your battery, discharge it all the way down to 0 percent and let your phone turn off again.
- Fully charge the battery one more time without interruption and you should have reset the Android system’s battery percentage.

HOW TO CHECK THE SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4 TO SEE IF THE BATTERY IS OVERHEATING?
If your Galaxy Note 4 or its battery is hot and you are looking for a way to check the temperature of your Galaxy Note 4 battery then, you are in the right place. If you are unsure whether it’s your Galaxy Note 4 or the battery that’s heating up or getting hot, then there are ways to know for sure which of the components causes the Note 4 to overheat. You can use these Galaxy Note 4 tips/tricks to help you find the root of the overheating.
ACCESS THE GALAXY NOTE 4 BATTERY INFORMATION
Here, you need to use the most insightful tidbit of information to diagnose the battery on your Galaxy Note 4 device. To get this information, you will need to access an in-depth analysis of your device’s battery. There is an easy way to get this information. However, this tool does not come installed on every Android device, and it may also be absent depending on the version of Android on your device, and sometimes the carrier that you use.
Nonetheless, there are still many devices that use the code to bring up information about your device’s battery, and you can try this first before installing any of the recommended apps to find your Galaxy Note 4 in-depth battery information. If it does not work, then please use one of the recommended apps outlined below to find gain access.
Start by opening the dial pad, as though you were going to dial a telephone number, and type in ##4636##. If this feature is available on your device, then a screen should automatically appear. You can choose and open the option that says Battery Information (there are quite a few other options as well).
##4636##
You should then see the following information about your battery including:
- Battery Status. Shows whether the charge status.
- Power Plug. Shows how the device is charging, AC (wall charger), USB (computer), etc.
- Battery Level. Shows the charge percentage of the battery.
- Battery Scale. Should read “100.”
- Battery Health. Should say “Good.” Does it display “unknown” or “unknown error”? Your Note 4’s battery might be having issues. Anything other than “Good,” requires a power cycle. Turn the Note 4 off then on. Enter the code again. Open the Battery Information again. See the health status changed. If it still doesn’t say good. Then there is a good chance the Note 4 battery is defective.
- Battery Voltage. Usually around 3.7V-4.2V.
- Battery Temperature. This is the option that you want to check when your Note 4 heats up. Test the temperature of your Note 4’s battery. Is the temperature above normal? A clear indication of possible battery overheating. Is the battery temperature normal? Then, the Note 4 is the problem. Battery temperatures vary, of course, but the battery in an Android often remains in the 30C range. Sometimes in the low 40s depending on the usage (86 °F – 104 °F) …
- Battery Technology. Usually shows Li-ion. Most Android’s use Lithium Ion batteries.
- Time Since Boot. Shows the amount of time since the last boot up.
Did the code not work on your Note 4? Here are the alternatives. These apps provide you with the same insightful data as the ##4636## code. Download and install the one with which you’re most comfortable.
Apps to Acess Battery Information on Galaxy Note 4
Battery Drain Analyzer
Battery Drain Analyzer is a sophisticated app that tracks your battery and power usage behind-the-scenes to give you an idea of what’s using the most juice. Think of it as Android’s built-in battery usage app on steroids; it offers tons of statistics and numbers that should satisfy even the most demanding power user. As the name implies, the app will analyze app and electricity usage and let you know which apps are draining the most power, or if it’s even an app that’s causing battery drain.
The Analyzer screen shows what system activity causes battery drain. Whether that’s your screen, applications, phone idling, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth radios, etc. Below that, it shows which applications are consuming the most battery, including the infamous Android OS battery drain, rated by percentages. If Facebook is using 65% of the battery drain caused by apps, for example, you’ve got a pretty good idea of what’s causing your power usage.
Battery Doctor
Battery Doctor is a helpful battery analyzer and extender that also has a few tricks in its toolbox that you won’t find in other apps. On the surface, it offers a clean interface for checking out your battery life. It gives a rough estimate of how much battery life you have left in your current charge based on your usage habits at the time, but it goes a step further by showing how much potential battery life you can save by turning off specific radios or application syncing.
Turning off that Bluetooth radio that you aren’t using saves battery life. The app also estimates how much battery life you get if you start doing things like playing games or streaming music. Stuck at work for a few more hours? Battery Doctor is a great tool for monitoring apps. Turn off a few features to prolong your Note 4 battery life.
The best part of Battery Doctor is the actual Doctor part of the application. It acts as a personal battery adviser by giving you tips on when to charge your battery for maximum battery life and what apps and hardware functions you can disable to extend your charge. Disabling haptic feedback, for example, gives a little more juice than you think it would.
Many other apps exist on the Google Play Store, but these are the good ones. You can check out some more of these apps here and learn how to install APK files on the Note 4 here. Once you have the app, proceed to analyze your Galaxy Note 4 battery statistics to find the cause of your battery overheating issue.
PHYSICAL INSPECTION OF GALAXY NOTE 4 BATTERY (ADVANCED USERS ONLY)
This one is a bit tricky. Sometimes it is best to check the battery of your device as a whole. Check for any form of bloating & malformations on the Galaxy Note 4. Can gain access to the battery by removing the back cover? Yes? Perform a visual inspection of the battery. Do you see any malformations? No? Set the battery down on a flat surface. How about now? Does it remain flat? Does it rock back & forth?. Should the battery not sit flat then you need to replace your battery.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN DEALING WITH A DEFECTIVE GALAXY NOTE 4 BATTERY
WARRANTY
If your Note 4 is still under the Manufacturer’s warranty which will also cover broken or malfunctioning parts, then you should take it in to have your device or battery replaced. If there is no physical or water damage on your battery and it’s less than a year old, then you will likely get a replacement battery at no cost to you. Give your service provider a call and ask them about your cell phones warranty.
Note: most cell phones and cell phones batteries have an LDI (Liquid Damage Indicator) somewhere on the device which, if exposed to moisture or liquid, will change from white to pink or red. Has your Note 4 battery LDI turned pink or red? If so, your Note 4 warranty no longer covers your device. In this case, you need to purchase a new Note 4 battery.
PURCHASING ANOTHER BATTERY
Thinking about buying a new Note 4 Battery? Buying a Note 4 battery replacement is your best chance at having a safe “procedure”. If you need to, purchase a Note 4 battery on Amazon. Next up: What’s causing your Note 4 to heat up?

It does not necessarily have to be the Note 4 that gets hot, but it could be the battery or the charger and even the speakers that are causing the problem. So, where exactly does your Galaxy Note 4 have overheating problems?
BACK OF THE GALAXY NOTE 4 GETTING HOT
When your Note 4 starts to get warm does it seem to be the whole phone or does it appear to be mostly in the back area where the battery sits? Perhaps it’s not the Note 4 that’s overheating but the battery inside.
BOTTOM OF THE GALAXY NOTE 4 GETS HOT
Is the Note 4 getting warm towards the bottom where you plug in the charger? Is your Note 4 only getting warm while connected to the charger? If so, this points to a charger issue. Find an original Galaxy Note 4 charger. Make sure to try a different charger, preferably one approved by the manufacturer of your device, to see if your device continues to heat up. HOW TO FIX A SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4 THAT KEEPS OVERHEATING?
Now that you narrowed down the overheating issue to the Note 4 and not necessarily a problem with the battery or the charger, it’s time to find out what you need to do to get the heating down. Below is a list of the most common reasons and best resolutions that you can use to combat overheating on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
TO MANY THINGS RUNNING
Apps & files on your Galaxy Note 4 are the same as any other thing that you have around your household. Things clutter and become overwhelming for your device. If your Note 4 has started to get unexpectedly warm or hot, then there is a good chance that your Note 4 has processes, such as applications, that are running in the background and you don’t even know that they are running.
Some of these apps even run as soon as you power on your phone. If you’ve read the article from the top, then you already know that you need to uninstall a few of these apps or put them in hibernation mode whenever they are not in use. As suggested, Greenify is a great app for hibernating apps.
TO HEAVY OF A LOAD FOR TOO LONG OF A TIME
The Galaxy Note 4 is a powerful device! That’s one thing of which we can be certain. However, you probably think that you can use Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Twitter, and other social media apps all at once without slowing down your device while streaming media from Hulu, YouTube, Netflix, Fox Sports Go, Starz, or the ShowTime Anytime app continuously without problems. Heck, you’re probably browsing your favorite dating apps, using Google Chrome to do research on your next adventure, and so much more. While all this is good, there is a limit to which you need to pay attention.
This restriction affects how long and how often you can do the same things over and over before they take a toll on your Galaxy Note 4’s performance. Let’s have a look at a couple of the things that your Galaxy Note 4 can do well but which might cause it to overheat in the long run.
EXTENDED STREAMING
Watching videos and other media content is one of the things that can make your Galaxy Note 4 a great device. Looking at a movie when traveling can make the time it takes to get to your final destination go by a lot faster. Watching movies and playing videos consistently, however, can indeed require more work from the Galaxy Note 4 processor.
And, not only can it consume a lot of battery power, it causes things to get warmer over time as well, given that our standards for media consumption move to using streams that offer a clearer picture with a higher definition.
Combine a load of playing a video with a load of a data connection when streaming content along with other processes running in the background (and over time your phone might start to get a little warm to the point of overheating.
HEAVY GAMING
The Android App store has a pretty wide selection of some pretty fun and entertaining games. With wore and more applications created and released every day. Some of these games and applications require more processing power than others.
It all depends on the complexity of the app. When you add this required processing power with extended usage, things can start to heat up. What you have to remember is that many of these games require you to use other resources on your Galaxy Note 4.
Many of the games require a data connection which means that your Galaxy Note 4 has to maintain an active internet connection via mobile data or Wi-Fi connectivity. The app might need to access contacts both on your device and social media accounts. All these things add up, and your device can get scorching over time.
DEFECTIVE BATTERY
If the Note 4 battery isn’t heating up, then the problem not your battery.Replace an old or malfunctioning battery. Consider replacing the Note 4 battery even if the Note 4 passes the battery test above. If your device is a little older and no longer covered under warranty, then you might be able to find a great deal on a new replacement battery/device online from stores like Amazon or eBay. Here, you can find Galaxy Note 4 replacement batteries. Let’s continue!
VENTILATION
HOT IN THE POCKET/BAG/ETC.
Does your Galaxy Note 4 overheat when it’s in your pocket/bag/etc.? Take it out of the confining area to let it have a bit of fresh air. If you need to keep your device nearby, then you can keep it in a backpack (non-cluttered), locker, or in a protective case on your waist.
GALAXY NOTE 4 HOT IN CASE
Protective cases are one of the best investments that you can make for a device. They help keep your device well protected and can certainly help save the phone from accidental falls or accidental damage. Invest in a good case for your Note 4. Use your phone out of the case for a while. Does the Note 4 continue to overheat? Does it prevent the Note 4 from getting hot?
WATER DAMAGE
Do you listen to music from your device while taking a shower? Do you keep your device in a hot pocket? Or has your device simply had an accident where you dropped it in some liquid? Power issues and overheating are common problems that water damaged Galaxy Note 4 can experience.
Locate the LDI (Liquid Damage Indicator) sticker(s) on your Note 4. Make sure that your Galaxy Note 4 is not experiencing any side effects of moisture or liquid damage. Your Galaxy Note 4 may very well have moisture damage, and you might not even know it. Check the back where the Note 4 SIM card is under the battery.
NO REST
When was the last time your device got to rest for a few minutes? Do you leave your Galaxy Note 4 turned on throughout the day and plugged into a charger all night? Power it off. A little rest works wonders sometimes. Apps and processes start to run and, continue to run until the user disables the process. Constant use causes minor software problems which you can often solve by restarting the Note 4. Let’s look at some of the possible solutions.
DISABLE UNNEEDED FUNCTIONS AND FEATURES
This suggestion goes hand in hand with too many things running at once. Running an animated wallpaper and ten different widgets only serve to drain the Galaxy Note 4 battery life. After all, these things are going to be running all at once. They cause your Galaxy Note 4 to work harder and cause your Note 4 to heat up. Chances are your Galaxy Note 4 has some widgets on its home screen(s), and you didn’t even know it.
OVERCLOCKING
If you don’t know what overclocking means, then you can disregard this piece of advice. Manipulating/customizing the Galaxy Note 4 software for speed inadvertently causes overheating on your Note 4. Overclocking your Note 4 can lead to a shorter lifespan for your device. An overheated Galaxy Note 4 can even suffer from hardware damage depending on how hot your Note is getting.
OUTDATED SOFTWARE
Outdated software is not likely the culprit for your Galaxy Note 4 heating up. However, updated software can help a cell phone run smoother. Updated software regularly provides fixes and might help to lower its average temperature.
HARDWARE
If part of the device becomes corrupted, then locate, replace & repair the part. In this case for your device to stop overheating. Try to think back to when your Note 4 started to get hot. Did you do anything to the Note 4 that could shed light on the recent overheating issues? Did you drop the Note 4 accidentally? Are there any signs of physical damage on the Note 4? If so, try fixing the damaged Note 4 part. The damaged piece potentially causes the Note 4 to heat up. Locate, repair or replace the damaged Note 4 part as soon as possible.
SOFTWARE
Can you remember downloading any new applications around the time that your Galaxy Note 4 started to get hot? If so, then you want to locate that application and disable it. You may also temporarily uninstall it. Rule out the possibility that it’s not that app that’s causing any problems on your device.
Does an individual application run when your Note 4 starts to heat up? Do you have to force stop or force close that app to get your Note 4 to cool down? If so, then you need to decide if it’s worth it to continue to use that app. You might want to rule out that application completely by temporarily uninstalling it. If you uninstall it, and your device seems to stop getting hot, then you found the issue. You could try re-installing it to see if a fresh copy helps. If not, you need to keep that app (or apps) off your phone.
Galaxy Note 4 Overheating: Software
If you can’t get your Galaxy Note 4 to stop heating up, then consider a hard reset. A hard reset resets all user data on the device. A Factory Reset rules out the possibility that something found its way onto your device. A virus causes problems, and a reset would help remove “viruses” from the Note 4. A hard reset removes all information. What not to do when your Galaxy Note 4 is overheating? Don’t do the following if you Note 4 heats up. You’ll be doing more damage than good:
WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN YOUR GALAXY NOTE 4 IS OVERHEATING
Do NOT put your Note 4 into the fridge or worse a freezer. Exposing your cell phone to extreme temperatures/moisture is dangerous. Not recommended!
SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4 STILL GETTING HOT!
Have you tried all of our tips? The chances are that your device has a hardware malfunction or another issue. Resolving this issue through standard troubleshooting is not possible. At this point, you need to look into your possible repair or replacement options. Check your Note 4 warranty to see if your manufacturer covers your problem.
If so, then your cell phones manufacturer may be responsible for the repair or replacement of your unit. If you have confirmed that your Galaxy Note 4’s battery is at fault and is getting hot or overheating, then you may need to consider a replacement battery. You don’t want a hot battery to cause damage to your Note 4 and cause even more trouble later on.

Now that’s what I call a well-craftef article, and a very useful one, with tons of information I have never been aware of! So different from your ordinary “turn off brightness to save battery” article!
Thanks! I hope that you’ve found some help in the event that your Galaxy Note 4 suffers from battery drain or overheating issues!!

i had changed my battery i was having phone heating problem the customer service is very bad in Muscat (Oman ) no more words really fedup no any support for customers once they sold out their device
My note 4 battery dies at 15 but that’s because I myself hadn’t implemented any of the tips in this article. I’m sorry to hear about the poor service in Muscat. Here’s hoping that you can get some sort of long battery life from your Note 4 using these tips. As for the overheating, try to use the article as a guide to combat the issue. Find out where it overheats most and use the info to resolve it. Good luck. If not, I suggest taking the device to a repair shop.

My note 4 dies at 20. It’d literally shut down on 20% of battery life. I figured that it was a glitch and I took it to a Samsung store and they replaced it. Now the replacement Note 4 battery dies really fast and I can’t seem to get it to last a full day.
Hi Jerry,
Thanks for your comment. I hope that the tips in this guide will help you extend your Galaxy Note 4 battery life. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I’ve been searching for tips on how to improve my note 4 battery life for quite some time now. I think that the note 4 terrible battery life is a problem that comes from the Android OS itself. Having to tweak so many things or use an app to improve battery life is tedious and shouldn’t be necessary.
That is true Wayne. Thanks for your feedback! I hope that the steps outlined above help your improve your Note 4 battery life.

No idea how to read my note 4 battery usage statistics but the highest usage came from Google Play Services so I did some modifications to the location settings and syncing and now my battery lasts for a day and a half at most.
Thanks for your feedback Harry. I’m glad that you extended your Note 4 battery life.

When I use my phone without the charger it restart continously..i hope u can help me
I suggest that you perform a factory reset to ensure that it is not a system error. Before you do this, you can uninstall any recently installed applications to ensure that these are not the cause for your Note 4 restarting unexpectedly.

Tnx for all of these useful tips. My mother was complaning about her Note 4 and the battery draining. I’ve folloved some tips given here and specially about the app “Greenify” and it did change the phone’s bettery usage. To give an idea before letting greenify manage the battery, her phone was loosing 1% every 5 mins when the phone was just in idle mode. After using Greenify in the same conditions (idle mode) her phone loose 1% every 2h30 to 3h. So she’s so happy now.
By the way I do have an Iphone 6 plus and none of the settings of the iphone can make it reach the performance of the samsung galaxy note 4+ greenify..
Thanks again.
You are welcome Phillippe! Glad that Greenify has helped extend your mom’s Note 4 battery life.

I just purchased a manufactured refurbished and everything works fine until I put a Sandisk 8gig in the memory card slot and it gets so hot that it feels like it’s about to explode. Once I remove the card it cools down. Is there a specific memory card I’m supposed to be using?
Hi,
I use a MicroSD HC from Kingston with all my devices without any problems. I believe that this a safe choice for your Galaxy device as well.

I don’t like to be so negative but a high tech device in the $500.00 ~ $700.00 range should just work. Period. We shouldn’t have to become technicians in order to make our devices work properly. I am so unhappy with my Note 4. Nothing but one problem after another since it was released. This is my 1st and last Samsung or for that matter Android device. Back to apple. 5 years on IOS and never one issue to deal with. What is going on in today’s market that allows a company like Samsung put out an extremely overpriced piece of junk and then tell it’s customers they now must deal with making it work.
BTW: Your article is really excellent! I just feel strongly that you shouldn’t have to write such an article to begin with.
Thanks for your feedback Tom. To be honest, I recently used an iPhone 6 for a week and guess what? I turned off my Galaxy S6 and made the switch to iOS. And, trust me, I’m a Samsung/Android fanboy. But, the iPhone is just better at managing battery life, multitasking and so much more. I don’t know why I didn’t give Apple a chance sooner.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a good phone for long battery life. It still can be improved with my favorite battery saving app, DS Battery Saver. You can also root the Galaxy Note 4 and install a custom ROM that is free of bloatware and will increase the battery life.
Thanks for your feedback. DS battery saver packs a lot of unnecessary features and ads. Use at your own convenience. To improve battery performance and reduce overheating on the Note 4, use the tips in the article.
I purchased one of the extended battery packs and never looked back. Note 4 battery life lasts longer now.
Thanks for your comment Rosewood. I’m happy that the extended battery pack works well for you. Enjoy your new and improved Note 4 battery life.

ALTERNATE SOLUTION: I was having issues with my Samsung Note 4 battery life as well. My phone would randomly just turn off. I thought at first it was a battery issue so I bought a new battery. Still had the same problems. It would get down to 30% and just turn off with no warning. I figured it was a calibration issue so I factory reset my entire phone. But I STILL had issues.
Finally, I found this code *#0228# and put it in the dialpad. Hit quick start. My phone started acting normally again! Battery is lasting me all day. If you’ve tried everything and it hasnt worked like me. This might be your fix! Hope it helps. :)
Where do you enter this code and quick start the phone? I diledit and hit send and Verizon tells me its a wrong number that can’t be dialed. Help?
