The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C is a new phablet that falls within the mid-range of smartphones. This model advocates a standard 5.5-inch screen that we have seen in many recent releases such as Samsung Galaxy On5 & Samsung Galaxy On7, that supports Full HD resolution, a good set of cameras and incorporates an eight-core processor to run all apps and Android games. In addition, Alcatel has sought to strengthen its design with the ability to use up to five different interchangeable covers offered in red, yellow, green, purple, white (much like recent releases: Alcatel OneTouch Pop Star & Alcatel OneTouch Go Play). Let’s have a look at all the details that have been revealed about the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C review/in depth analysis.
Design
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C is all about color. Alcatel decided to focus on this aspect and will market this smartphone (like a few other Alcatel Smartphones) with up to five different color variations, with the ability to change to a different housing at any time (purchased separately). Specifically, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C comes in white, red, green, purple and yellow hues. In addition to the ability to customize the Idol 3C, the smartphone measures 152.7 x 75.1 x 7.9 mm.
Display
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C uses an IPS panel with a size of 5.5 inches, the most widely used format within phablets these days. This display has a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, which gives a maximum pixel density of 401 dots per inch. This is good detail to enjoy applications, games, movies and videos on Android devices. In addition, the IPS technology favors some good viewing angles, specifically 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically. Alcatel also highlights the Technicolor Color Enhance technology which offers more vivid and true colors.
Camera
In the photographic section, The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C has a pretty good set of cameras. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C has a 13 megapixel camera in the rear with LED flash, optical image and video stabilization to prevent shakiness/blurs in shots and an aperture of f/2.0 for improved precision and quality pictures in low light. This objective is also capable of recording video in high resolution 1080p. On the front, the Idol 3C has a good 8-megapixel camera designed to take quality selfies. In addition, this lens achieves a viewing angle up to 84 degrees so that no one is left out of group photos.
Performance & Storage
To run the Android platform, the OneTouch Idol 3C incorporates an eight-core processor with a power of 1 GHz with a RAM of 2 GB. This is a rather remarkable set of specs, although it isn’t among the most powerful models on the market. In terms of internal memory, Alcatel has chosen the internal capacity of 16 GB. According to data from the brand, if you exclude the space used by the operating system and pre-installed applications, you have 10 GB left to store Android Applications and personal files. Should this capacity fall short, users can expand the space, up to 128 GB, through a MicroSD memory card. You can also use a cloud storage system like Dropbox or Google Drive.
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C Green/Lime VersionOperating System and Applications
The OneTouch Idol 3C runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, one of the last releases of tje popular mobile phone operating system that is present today in eight out of ten smartphones on the market. Android 5.0 Lollipop offers a more colorful look and a more intuitive user interface. Alcatel also incorporates advanced audio technology to create an experience of HiFi sound with two JBL speakers.
Connectivity
In the field of connections, the Alcatel Idol 3C supports 4G high-speed networks with rates up to 150 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream. In addition, to save on data users can connect to WiFi networks. There is also WiFi Direct to exchange files directly with other smartphones and WiFi Display to project the phone display/screen on a compatible TV or monitor. The connections are completed with Bluetooth 4.0 to synchronize the device with accessories such as wireless speakers or smartwatches like the Alcatel Onetouch Go Watch, GPS to put for use with apps like Google Maps and a microUSB port to charge of the device. I like the Idol 3C version but I must say that the OneTouch Pop Star is my favorite out of the recent 3 releases.
