At a special live event in Brooklyn, Apple debuted a brand new 2018 iPad Pro alongside a new MacBook Air and Mac Mini. The updated 2018 iPad Pro features a full-screen display, flat edge, and rounded corners. Check out all the new features below.
Display And Face ID
The new iPad Pro sports an 11-inch display. There’s also a 12.9-inch display variant available. Both the new iPad Pro variants are are 5.9mm thin. This makes it smaller than its predecessor.
The new iPad Pro includes Face ID which is a feature first seen on the iPhone X. Users can now unlock their iPad Pro with face recognition. Features like Animoji, Memoji, Apple Pay, logging in, etc. also rely on Face ID.
The new iPad Pro also features the same Home indicator as the iPhone X along with gestural navigation and multitasking.
Specifications
The all-new iPad Pro has an A12X Bionic chip similar to the iPhone XS. It also features an 8-core CPU or 7-core GPU. This chip provides 35% faster CPU year-over-year, 90% faster CPU for multicore and 1000x faster graphics performance. As for the battery, the standard 10-hour lifespan before charge remains the same.
1TB And USB-C
The new iPad Pro is available for pre-order with up to 1TB of storage. The previous max being 512GB. And, a USB-C replaces the Lightning. The new 2018 iPad Pro is capable of supporting up to 5K display output. And, the new iPad Pro can also charge an iPhone or other devices over USB-C.
Apple Pencil And Smart Keyboard Folio
As for the Apple Pencil, it automatically connects to the new iPad Pro and charges wirelessly. It also has a magnetic factor that lets it stick the iPad Pro. With the “new pencil”, users can tap the screen to wake the iPad Pro. Another new feature
The Smart Keyboard Folio is also a new accessory that features an adjustable screen angle. Unlike the previous versions, the new smart keyboard allows for front and back coverage.
The iPad Pro also features Bluetooth 5.0, Smart HDR on the Face ID camera, Gigabit LTE, an 18W charging brick, and you guessed it, no headphone jack.
