This guide shows you how to fix the Google Play error 504. Like many errors that occur while using the Google Play Store, this particular error gives the message “App could not be downloaded due to an error”.
Pretty vague, but there is an easy fix. It takes less than two minutes to resolve and as such, you should follow the instructions outlined in the following pages carefully. The following steps should resolve the error 504 issue:
Clear Play Store App Cache & Data
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Then, choose All.
- Tap Google Play Store.
- Lastly, tap clear app cache and data.
Clear Google Services Framework
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Select All.
- Then choose Google Services Framework.
- Finally, tap clear the app cache and data.
Remove Google Account
- Go to System Settings.
- Tap Accounts.
- Then, choose Google.
- Select remove your Gmail account.
- Then, from Settings, go to Apps.
- Choose All, then click Force stop and tap clear data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager.
- Then, go back to Settings >> Accounts >> Google >>Add your Gmail account.
- Restart your Android and then accept the Google terms and configure your settings.
- Finally, go back to the Google Play Store and update or install your app.
After you have done the above, restart your Android. When your Android boots, you may then go back to downloading the app and you should no longer receive the 504 error “App could not be downloaded due to an error” message.
