Sometimes, when you use your iPhone, you get an error that does not allow you to connect to cellular data. It reads,”Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service.”
Usually, this occurs when you have poor reception. It also occurs if you recently traveled. Sometimes, all it takes is a quick setting adjustment. Here’s what to do.
Clear Profiles
- Open “Settings”.
- Tap “General”.
- Then, “VPN” (if it exists).
- Look for an option called “Profiles“.
- If it doesn’t exist, go to Fix 2.
- Clear anything listed in the “Profiles” section.
- Power down, then restart the phone.
Reset Networking
- Open “Settings” from the Home screen.
- Tap “General”.
- Select “Reset”.
- Choose “Reset Network Settings”.
- Power down the iPhone by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the device, then sliding the “Off” slider.
- Wait about 10 seconds, then power the iPhone back on.
- Then, see if your connection works.
Add APN Settings
- Open “Settings” from the Home screen.
- Depending on your version of the iOS, go to the following path:
- “Cellular” > “Cellular Data Options” > “Cellular Network“.
- “Mobile Data” > “Mobile Data Options” > “Mobile Data Network“.
- Type the word “internet” for both APN categories (“Mobile Data” & “Personal Hotspot“)
However, you may need to contact your service provider to get the correct settings. Lastly, you can reset the APN data using the “Reset Settings” option on the “Cellular/Mobile Data Network” screen.
