The Huawei G8 is a smartphone with a 5.5 inch screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor and a 13 megapixels rear camera. It is one of the devices that fall with in the mid-range when compared to other smartphones. This article takes you through the Huawei G8’s characteristics/features, specs and offers a Huawei G8 review.
Huawei G8
Design
The design of the Huawei G8 is one of the features that gets the most attention. Not surprisingly, it is entirely coated with metallic materials, allowing us to enjoy a robust and elegant phone, made to withstand everyday usage (think slips and falls). But this is not all. The device is very comfortable to hold, with rounded corners that fit snugly in one’s hand. The end result? You have a phone that is 152 x 76.5 x 7.5 mm in size and weighs 167 grams, with the battery included (a bit heavy if you ask me).
Display
The screen is, of course, one of the other star elements of this smartphone. It is a 5.5-inch panel with FullHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The pixel density is 401 dots per inch and the G8 offers a clear, vivid and colorful viewing experience. The screen isn’t the brightest of screens but, to be honest, it is highly unnoticeable unless, of course, you pay attention to detail like any avid smartphone buyer.
Camera
The camera on the Huawei G8 provides a good user experience. It includes a 13-megapixel sensor, with with support for dual LED flash, essential when capturing images in dim environments or even at night. The camera will allow you to capture good images but also videos in FullHD quality at 1080p, with a speed of 30 fps per second. The front camera has a 5 megapixel sensor, ready to capture selfies and make video calls.
The phone is perfectly capable of playing most major formats of multimedia content. It includes a 3.5 mm jack, as is tradition, great for connecting speakers or headphones.
Power
At the heart of the Huawei G8 is the real machinery behind the smartphone. The device works through a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, working hard through 8 cores: one set of four are Cortex-A53 at 1.7 GHz and four others, Cortex A-53 at 1.2 GHz. This chip combines performance with an Adreno 405 graphics processor and a memory of 3 GB RAM. This allows the phone to operate in a fluid way, both when running simple applications as well as games with a high burden of graphics.
Storage
Regarding the storage capacity, you ought to know that the Huawei G8 is available in two different versions. The first offers 32 GB of memory, but the second only offers 16 GB. Luckily, this can always be expanded through external microSD cards of up to 64 GB.
Huawei G8Operating System
Like virtually all Huawei martphones, the Huawei G8 comes standard with the Android operating system in its 5.1 Lollipop version. This is one of the latest versions Google has launched, prepared with the latest security updates and other improvements to the interface and notifications.
As if this were not enough, users can enjoy a special interface, designed by Huawei, which goes by the name EMUI. The development of it has been carried out within Huawei . In this case, this is version 3.1. Many themes, wallpapers and icons and various applications and tools to manage the device are included.
In addition, as a good smartphone running Android, the Huawei G8 includes the major preinstalled apps that give access to Google’s services. Google Search, Google Maps, Hangouts, YouTube and Google Drive to name a few. You can also connect to the Google Play Store to download new apps and games.
Huawei G8Connectivity
The Huawei G8 is well prepared in the field of telephone connectivity. It is compatible with 4G / LTE networks, but also with wireless networks such as WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It should be noted, moreover, that in the physical realm Huawei G8 stands out for having an a microUSB 2.0 slot and a dual SIM card slot.
At this point we must mention the addition of a fingerprint sensor that is great for safely securing your device and caring out specific functions. It is located at the back and works through the Finger Sense 2.0 technology. Thus, you can make sure that you are the only one who unlocks the phone and make fully secure purchases from the device.
Furthermore, there are two antennas which mean twice as much connectivity. Thanks to the dual antenna smart switching you won’t have to worry about losing your signal again.
Huawei G8Battery
The Huawei G8 is equipped with a lithium-ion battery, with a capacity of 3,000 milliamps . The company has not provided information about the life that the battery can offer but everything suggests that taking into account the characteristics and capacity of the battery, the duration should be at least a day at full capacity. We may be able to use it without charge for 24 hours.
Review
The Huawei G8 comes in three colors: dark silver, white and gold. It is also available in different storage capacities, 16 and 32 GB. Given the characteristics and features of the smartphone, one can expect a powerful device that comes at a much cheaper price than the high end devices on the market. A quick skip down the spec sheet of the Huawei G8 and it’s not immediately obvious how it differs from the e Huawei Mate S. So, if quality is what you need without having to bust out the big bucks, the Huawei G8 is a good choice.
