There are various ways to increase the font size on an Android device. However, despite popular belief, you do not need to root your Android. Whether you want to make the font in specific apps larger or you just want to increase the overall readability, here are the easiest ways to increase the font size on an Android device.
Change Font Size Via System Settings
The first, and easiest method, is to go to your Android phone’s settings and change the font. However, not all Android smartphones have this option. Hence, you have to check that yours has the feature. To do so:
- Go to “Settings” > “Display” > “Font size”
- Once here, adjust the size as you need
- Note that for Samsung phones, the name may be Screen Zoom & Font
You can modify the font in increments. The choices are small, normal, large and huge. Chose the one that best fits your needs.
Increase Zoom Setting
For those who truly need better visibility and readability, it may be a better choice to increase the zoom setting on your Android. You can do this via “Magnification gestures.”
- Go to “Settings” > “Accessibility” > “Magnification gestures”, and turn it “On.”
- To increase visibility (with the setting on), triple tap any part of the screen to zoom in.
App Font & Zoom Options
For specific apps, you may have the option to set the default font size and zoom. Simply open the app in question and go to settings to verify if there are any settings that change the font or zoom settings. For example, in the Google Chrome app, there is an option called “Text scaling” that increases the font on every web page you visit.
Lastly, you have to option to use other methods that involve rooting your device. However, we do not discuss those methods in this article. Let us know if you need help in the comments section below.
