Nexus 7 CM13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow: This tutorial will teach you how to install CyanogenMod 13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your NEXUS 7 device. This version allows you to port the latest version of Android, Android 6.0 Marshmallow to your NEXUS 7. The first devices to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow are the Nexus 6X and Nexus 6P. In other words, for the many previously released Android devices, there won’t be an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for quite some time (and there is no guarantee that your device will get updated). You can, however, choose to wait for the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Nexus 7 OR you can get Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your Nexus 7 via the CM13 ROM..
Instructions
In order to install CM13 on your NEXUS 7 you first need to download the CM13 ROM and simply flash it using a custom recovery like TWRP or Cyanogen recovery (which is available for most devices) with a factory reset/wipe data. The necessary downloads are available for you below. Before you continue, you should note that you would be required to download and install the necessary Gapps package for your version of Android. Currently we have a Gapps 5.1 Lollipop Download page but for this ROM you will need the Gapps 6.0 Marshmallow Download.

Those are the two most important set of files that you need right now and I assume that you’ve already installed a custom recovery… you wouldn’t be reading this if you don’t know how to do that, would you? But if you don’t have em already, here are the instructions for installing the TWRP recovery on the NEXUS 7.
TWRP recovery
- Download and transfer the Nexus 7 ROM and Marshmallow Gapps file to your device’s internal storage.
- Boot your device into TWRP recovery.
- Select “Wipe” from TWRP main menu and do a “Swipe to Factory Reset” on the bottom of screen.
- Go back to TWRP main menu, tap on “Install” and select the CM13 .zip file that you transferred to your device in Step 1.
- After selecting the .zip file, do “Swipe to Confirm Flash” on the bottom of screen to begin the custom ROM installation process. This may take some time.
- Once your ROM is successfully flashed, you’ll see “Wipe cache/dalvik” option, select it and then do “Swipe to wipe” on bottom of screen.
- Now flash the Marshmallow Gapps file similarly like you flashed the ROM file.
- After flashing both Nexus 7 CM13 and Gapps, Reboot your device.
OR
Cyanogen recovery
- Download and transfer the Nexus 7 ROM and Marshmallow Gapps file to your device’s internal storage.
- Boot your device into Cyanogen recovery.
- Select “Wipe data/ factory reset”, then select “Yes” to confirm.
- Now select “Apply update” from main menu and select “Choose from internal storage”.
- Select the Nexus 7 CM13 ROM file that you transferred to your device in Step 1 above.
└ It may begin to install without confirmation. - Once the Nexus 7 CM13 ROM is installed, flash the Marshmallow Gapps file like you flashed the Nexus 7 CM13 ROM.
- After flashing both Nexus 7 CM13 and Gapps, Reboot your device.
