Verizon took to Twitter to announce that the Motorola Z3 successfully connected to their 5G Ultra Wideband network. The Z3 is now the first and only smartphone to connect to 5G.
However, lets not get too excited. 5G availability isn’t set until 2019. And, there’s no significant point in time for its release. For now, all we have to go by is Verizon’s test. Verizon claims that they browsed the internet and placed a video call.
The connection was made possible by a 5G radio in the new Moto Mod with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 5G modem. A setup that Samsung helped create.
